Antonio de Ciudad Real states that "in Mayapan there was an especially high Temple, with four stone staircases climbing to the summit. At the top was a house made of mortar, corbeled vaulted chambers w idols, and priests attending them. At the base of this mound was a cenote which they cast victims in honor of their GODS."
